Jug Bandits



Zac Matthews plays the mandolin, guitar, and fiddle. He co-founded the band Hot Buttered Rum, and performed over a thousand shows while touring the country in a vegetable oil powered bus. Zac has played at festivals including Telluride Bluegrass, Hardly Strictly, and Newport Folk and has been faithfully attending the Strawberry Music Festival since 1999.

Mike Sinclaire plays the guitar and mandolin for youngsters and oldsters alike. He found bluegrass as a college student in Colorado has gigged and recorded with bluegrass bands in New York City and the Bay Area. Long wanders through the woods and mountains inspire his playing and singing. He aspires to be a sideman some day for his two young children, Ruby and Milo.

Andrew Thomas started playing the upright bass in college and received his degree in music from James Madison University. After college, he played bass and sang in a hip-hop band from the Washington DC area named RPM (Restoring Poetry in Music). He was introduced to old time and bluegrass music by playing with The New Roanoke Jug Band. When not playing music, he enjoys practicing and teaching other healing arts such as yoga and ayurveda.

Jenifer Matthews plays the ukelele and double bass. She enjoys entertaining children with music, as a nice diversion from her full time career as a pediatrician. She is also one of the key organizers of Oakland Food Justice non-profit, Phat Beets Produce.
